Renovation and Design in the City
South End Brownstone
We were brought in to liven up the top floor game room of a historic brownstone in Boston’s South End. What initially started as a small project evolved into a total refresh and partial renovation of the remaining spaces. The homeowners — a professional couple with two college-aged children — favored art, custom details, floor coverings, color, opulent textiles and entertaining. We tapped local furniture upholstery companies to control the comfort and scale of custom pieces, perfectly fit for this 1860’s brownstone. While no structural changes were made, we hired a contractor to remodel three bathrooms and handle cosmetic changes in the kitchen. The result is a highly bespoke home, reflective of its art-collecting occupants.

This Brownstone was dark and dreary. It did not reflect the personalities of the new owners.

A bright blue French stove was just what the husband ordered for the kitchen refresh.

We redesigned cabinetry on the fourth floor to better make use of a niche that was underutilized and inefficient.

The new bathroom for the top floor game room is as happy as it gets!
