Wachusett Road

COUNTRY/Wachusett Road

When does a project really begin?  If it’s a true collaboration between architect, designer, builder and client, it begins long before the shovel hits the ground. That was the case in this multi-year project on Wachusett Road for a family that was growing and whose needs were evolving. Liz and her team loved the duality of what they were tasked with: a home that was sophisticated, soft, and quiet while at the same time, completely family friendly and durable.  Accomplishing that meant using high quality materials that endure through every stage of active lives. It also meant creating spaces that were not only purposeful but also engaging. An open concept kitchen doubles as family area, a more formal entertaining area accommodates all ages, and then there’s the bar (AKA: the grown-up play area) complete with its separate lounge. In each room, the team played with contrast and texture, in every space they utilized natural materials, and in all nooks (and possible all crannies, too,) they brought in original pieces inspired by travels both near and far. Though still a work in progress, this beautiful home will continue to grow and evolve alongside the other work in progress at this address, too–this beautiful, young and growing family.
